Essay concerning human nature

My purpose in this talk is to outline an approach toward a metaphysical framework for understanding what the DMT entities are, and this clearly goes beyond phenomenology into ontology. As regards the Original Energy which is known, obscurely, to modern physics indirectly via the concept of energythis is what provides coherence and consistency to what appears to souls as external to themselves, and manifests itself to humans and to all animals as the natural world, or Nature.

Nor will it come down to the apprehension of the vulgar except by its utility and effects. And as the instruments of the hand either give motion or guide it, so the instruments of the mind supply either suggestions for the understanding or cautions.

Modern philosophy is only now recovering from this basic error. In defence of inclusive fitness theory. For the one just glances at experiment and particulars in passing, the other dwells duly and orderly among them. Certainly if in things mechanical men had set to work with their naked hands, without help or force of instruments, just as in things intellectual they have set to work with little else than the naked forces of the understanding, very small would the matters have been which, even with their best efforts applied in conjunction, they could have attempted or accomplished.

XIII The syllogism is not applied to the first principles of sciences, and is applied in vain to intermediate axioms, being no match for the subtlety of nature. The realm to which DMT provides access is the world of the dead.

They feel gratitude to those who have helped them, anger to those who have exploited them, and contrition to those whom they have exploited if they depend on them for future cooperation.

From them, or possibly from the Primordial Mind itself, emanate many other minds. But do humans instinctively volunteer to blow themselves up or advance into machine-gun fire, as they would if they had been selected with group-beneficial adaptations?

If a group is annihilated, all the people in it, together with their genes, are annihilated. There are compelling scientific, historic, and experiential reasons for believing that consciousness behaves nonlocally in space and time — that it is spatially unconfinable to brains and bodies, and that it is temporally unconfinable to the present.

The other point of which I would have men reminded relates to the matter itself.

THE FALSE ALLURE OF GROUP SELECTION

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Standard interpretations portray a person and that person's Ka as separate beings, but might they be thought of as different only because the Ka is the soul of the person which pre-existed in the DMT world and the person is the Ka which has become incarnate in our natural world?

The realm to which DMT provides access is the world of the dead.

Group selection theories are now more Sophisticated, but are they more predictive? And if they should then send for more people, thinking that in that way they might manage it, would he not think them all the madder?

The answer is that, as said before, DMT entities have bodies just as we humans have bodies, although their bodies are rather different from ours. Is group selection necessary to explain the evolution of psychological traits adapted to group living such as tribalism, bravery, self-sacrifice, xenophobia, religion, empathy, and moralistic emotions?

XV There is no soundness in our notions, whether logical or physical. First, it falls out fortunately as I think for the allaying of contradictions and heartburnings, that the honor and reverence due to the ancients remains untouched and undiminished, while I may carry out my designs and at the same time reap the fruit of my modesty. In John Locke: Association with Shaftesbury his most important philosophical work, An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (), began at a meeting with friends in his rooms, probably in February The group had gathered to consider questions of morality and revealed religion (knowledge of God derived through revelation).
